The chamber recently took a high power Business Delegation to Angola to explore business opportunities in the African country

Indo-African Chamber of Commerce has been playing an important role in promoting and strengthening the bilateral trade ties between India and African countries since last four decades. The chamber has direct access to more than 1 lakh MSME companies with about 5 lakhs companies linked with 23 states and regional associations in India. The chamber is playing a pivotal role in encouraging Indian companies to establish and grow their footprint in Africa and grow their business like never before.

The growing India-Africa trade partnership has scripted many success stories. Africa’s growth is of immense value not only for Africa and the  Africans but for the entire world. Interestingly, today India-Africa bilateral trade stands at $85.5 billion whereas India’s cumulative investment with Africa still the year 2022 stood at $70 billion.

Mrs. Doctor Sunanda Rajendran, Secretary General of Indo-African Chamber Of Commerce has been  dedicatedly working for strong bilateral trade ties between the two countries. Underlining the significance of Indo-African Chamber of Commerce Sunanda Rajendran said, “The main objective of the Indo-African Chamber of Commerce is to provide strong networking platform to the Indian business communities, to showcase our capabilities and intellectual skills, encouraging and motivating the business communities of India by providing them latest technology, transfer services, joint ventures and various development projects.”

She further added, “We identify, outsource the opportunities and give handholding support to the business communities belonging to both the countries. The significance of our  chamber is that it is playing an important role in encouraging Indian companies to establish and grow their footprints  in African countries and reap the benefits of the bilateral trade ties.”

Elaborating further, she said, “There are ample opportunities in the  agriculture sector, supply of various kinds of  equipment, seed, soil, training related to modern techniques of deep irrigation, farming,  technology transfer, food processing etc. There is also a very good scope for cultivation activities as the land in African countries are very fertile. Lots of minerals like copper, manganese, gold, phosphates, uranium, feldspar and platinum are known to exist in big  commercial quantities in Angola, especially in the area of the escarpment.”

Dr Sunanda Rajendra said that there are ample health care and pharma opportunities like  running hospitals, super speciality clinics, diagnostic centre chain, anti-cancer, anti-malarial , anti-tuberculosis medicines etc. in African countries. Wide scale opportunities are also available in the field of infra and construction projects like low cost housing, refineries, cement factories, skill development training centres and many others.

Dr Sunanda Rajendran further said, “I appeal our business communities in India to show seriousness in doing business with African countries and do let us know if our chamber can provide any kind of assistance regarding business opportunities related to African countries and promoting and establishing linkages not only in Anglo but any of the 54 African countries.”

She also thanked our Indian Ambassador of Angola Pratibha Parkar for making all the necessary arrangements for Indian delegation which visited over there. She said, “On behalf of the Chamber, I take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to our dynamic and very active Ambassador Dr Pratibha Parkar ji for her wholehearted support and guidance   extended to our high power business delegation in Angola from 14 to 18th May, 2023. She herself and her entire team in the embassy made our stay very very comfortable and hassle free. Her sincere hard work as a team Leader and dedicated efforts that was the first step for encouraging and motivating our delegates to do their business in Angola.”
