Jagjit Singh Foundation in association with Perfect Harmony Productions Pvt. Ltd. announces “Jagjit Singh Music Festival”. A never before, two day music festival to celebrate the 75th Birth Anniversary of“The King Of Ghazal” Jagjit Singh.

Padma Bhushan Jagjit Singh had it not just in his voice, but in his soul. That’s why his music touched the whole universe. Although he is physically not present among us today, but his mesmerizing voice still lingers in our hearts and minds with the same charisma.

Year 2016 happens to be the 75th Birthday of the maestro Jagjit Singh. To make the celebrations grand for this Platinum Jubilee, a two day music festival has been announced.

DAY 1 – 7th Feb. 2016

Young ghazal singers will be invited from all over India by virtue of their recordings. The registrations have started. Top 25 singers will be shortlisted by our esteemed panel of jury including  JANAB NIDA FAZLI, Smt. CHITRA SINGH, Chairperson, Jagjit Singh Foundation, Shri. SURESH WADKAR and Shri ROOP KUMAR RATHOD.

These chosen aspiring singers will perform in Mumbai on 7th Feb. 2016 at Ajivasan. The day will feature 3 ghazals sung by each singer from 11am till evening. A total of 75 ghazals of Jagjit Singh will be sung. At the end of the day session all the participants will be honoured by the Smt. Chitra Singh and they will be given certificates from Jagjit Singh foundation.

This will lead to enormous enthusiasm among young Ghazal singers to take up ghazal as art form and spread it around the world.

DAY 2 – 8th Feb. 2016

Day 2 will be the Grand Celebration in the form of ‘Jagjit Singh Musical Festival’ attended by who’s who of the music fraternity. This will be a public event featuring performances by legends. The line up includesDeepak Pandit and Ranjit Barot giving a musical invocation of 10 minutes to the commencement of the festival, followed by Ghazal Maestro Shri Hari Haran regaining the audience for 45 minutes with his own unique ghazals and then Shri Suresh Wadkar and Shri Sonu Nigam would give unique rendition of Jagjit ji’s compositions in their own imitable style to relive the memories of maestro’s real music.

The second half will showcase a unique combination titled “Tridhara” which will premier on the occasion.  This will feature three streams of art namely Taal Sur & Nritya together  featuring Padma Bhusan Ustad Zakir Hussain, Padma Vibhusan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and Padma Vibhusan Pandit Birju Maharaj.
